An investment to bypass France’s 60% inheritance tax
Founded in 1954, the Groupment Forestier preserves forests in France and Europe. It comprises two categories: the Groupement Foncier Forestier (GFF), which prevents the dismantling of forests during inheritance through conservation; and, for investors seeking to diversify their portfolio with forestry assets, the Groupement Forestier d’Investissement (GFI).
Bankable benefits. A modest annual return of 1%-2%, but interesting tax advantages, including a 25% income tax reduction (up to €11,400), partial inheritance tax exemption (up to 75%), and a 75% exemption from Impôt sur la Fortune Immobilière (IFI) on qualifying units.
The exemption also helps avoid the 60% inheritance tax when passing assets to non-bloodline beneficiaries, making it both a sustainable and tax-efficient solution.
